Jesus may not have died nailed to the cross because there is no evidence that the Romans crucified prisoners two thousand years ago, a scholar has claimed.
The legend of his execution is based on the traditions of the Christian church and artistic illustrations rather than antique texts, according to theologian Gunnar Samuelsson.
He claims the Bible has been misinterpreted as there are no explicit references the use of nails or to crucifixion – only that Jesus bore a ‘staurus’ towards Calvary which is not necessarily a cross but can also mean a ‘pole’. Full story at the Telegraph.
Us Godcheckers are left wondering. Jesus never went near a cross – it was a pole. So how did he die then? Hit over the head with it? Impaled? A terrible pole-vaulting accident?
In case you’re wondering, the scholar in question is a devout Christian. We urge him to complete his research and track down the missing murder weapon before anyone else gets injured.

But it does not serve you or anyone else’s purpose to alter Gunnar Samuelsson’s remarks… the issue at hand is not that “Jesus” was ‘crucified on a cross’ versus on a ‘pole’, -there is no textual evidence that “Jesus” was crucified at all. In fact, I will say further that there is no evidence that “Jesus Christ” even lived at all. No Jew or Roman, during Pontius Pilate’s tenure as Perfect of Judaea, ever knew or saw or even heard of “Jesus Christ”… much less write about him. All ‘references’ concerning “Jesus Christ” ‘literally’ appeared many years after the ‘descendant of David and Jewish messiah’ was ‘crucified’… his name might not even have been “Jesus” either. Nothing was written about “[Jesus] Christ” until after Saul of Tarsus’ -aka, the Apostle and eventual Saint Paul’s epiphany or apparition or vision of a ghost of ‘the descendant of David and Jewish messiah’, -thereafter, known to us latter-day people as: “Jesus Christ”.
I don’t know or understand why you Posted as you did… -except to make fun of the thoughtful theologian Samuelsson.

I have it on good authority that the cross was invented just “AFTER” the story was first written.
The writing implements in those days were pretty crude. (You try writing with a hammer and chisel)
Anyway, they meant to say that Jesus was “cross” at the guards…etc, etc. but, the story had already been published, so they improvised from there.
If you don’t believe it, just take into consideration that they’re “STILL” improvising today!
